Role Objective

To provide strategic direction, academic planning, leadership and administrative oversight for learning, teaching and assessment, research and enterprise, student experience, and development of laboratories to achieve the highest possible standards in business administration education and research. To promote innovative approaches to program delivery, increase research output and funding and to facilitate partnerships with other colleges. Responsible for collaboration with academic, industry and public sector partners and to enhance the national and international profile of the College. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To manage the college and its academic programs portfolio;
  2. To create and develop a cohesive and unified College of Business Administration with unique and new programs portfolio to differentiate it in the Sultanate of Oman;
  3. To provide leadership and oversight of quality assessment programs in compliance with OAAA and international accreditation standards;
  4. To achieve education excellence through the supervision of the teaching process, examinations and general performance and ensure smooth and orderly progress of work in the college;
  5. To look into the needs of the college with regard to academic staff, researchers, technicians, administrators, equipment, materials, books and any other requirements and make recommendations to the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs;
  6. To prepare budget estimates for the college and academic reports on a semester and annual basis;
  7. To prepare long and medium term strategic and annual plans for the development of the college;
  8. To Bring technology into COBA programs to insure up to date knowledge base, curriculum and faculty skills set
  9. To Manage financial performance of the college
  10. To Provide quality supervision and leadership of COBA Faculty and staff to insure synergy, teamwork spirit and productive work environment in the college
  11. To develop, implement, promote and evaluate curriculum and ensure its validity and currency with the latest trends;
  12. To oversees the overall assessment program and ensuring that relevant standards are followed;
  13. To present proposals to the University Academic Board for approval and to implement the University Academic Board decisions;
  14. To monitor and develop strategies to improve program enrolment, student experience, progression and retention;
  15. Promote high academic standards and recognition of faculty and student scholarly accomplishments on an annual basis;
  16. To create a friendly environment conducive to open communications and productivity;
  17. To coordinate with other colleges and units at the university to increase student and faculty satisfaction and engagement.
  18. Any other related duties assigned by line manager.


An earned PhD from a recognized University


  1. A record of excellence in teaching and research
  2. A minimum of an earned academic rank of Associate Professor
  3. Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Academic Supervisory position, preferably as a Head of department

Knowledge & Skills

  1. Strong leadership and management skills consistent with the duties of Dean of College including the management of staff performance.
  2. Effectiveness in formal and informal interaction and communication with students, University Staff and external stakeholders (the professions, industries, and the wider community.
